#She's So...Everything
Here at Melinda Maria, we’re all about joy.
We know that—even if it’s for a moment—a great pair of hoops can put a smile on your face, and a meaningful necklace can make you stand a little bit taller. We make jewelry for women who work to find the joy in life. And we couldn’t be happier to introduce you to some of our favorite women who work hard to bring happiness to the world (and themselves). Over the next few months, we'll be giving you the opportunity to get to know these AMAZING women.
Sam Popoy
Maternity Nurse
"You're doing this. You're doing all the right things."
After helping to deliver babies for eight years as a maternity nurse, Sam Popoy made the switch to working as a maternity nurse case manager. "I still get to work with pregnant moms, which I love so much, but I can also enjoy having my kids at home with me while I work."
"It brings me joy to give moms in labor what I can give them: knowledge and support. I mean, it's crazy. You have the baby and you're exhausted. And they're like, 'Go ahead, take it home' just 24 hours later, and you're expected to take care of this little human being.
I get to be the person to tell a new mom, 'You're doing this, You're doing all the right things.'"
Kathy Eldon and Amy Eldon Turteltaub
Founders of Creative Visions
"I do it because I am passionate about the world right now."
Inspired by the life of Dan Eldon, a 22-year-old photojournalist who was killed in Somalia in 1993, his mother and sister, Kathy and Amy Eldon, founded Creative Visions to support creative activists who "use their creativity for good, just like Dan."
"I do it because I am passionate about the world right now. The world is in need of inspiration and empowerment. We often feel very helpless and hopeless because we don't know what to do to solve social, environmental, and humanitarian problems. And I think the way we can do it is through creative activism. Through storytelling of all varieties—art, music, dance, drama, film, the stories that will move us to want to take action about issues that really matter."
"There was a quote that I heard the other day, which was when there's no hope, you have to be the hope. I want to show my kids that there is hope."
Brittany Barber
Singer, Songwriter, & Melinda Maria Customer Service Agent
"I choose happiness. I choose joy, I choose love. I choose laughter"
At Melinda Maria, we like to think of ourselves as a customer service brand that sells jewelry. Brittany Barber is the heart and soul of our customer service team. She goes out of her way to make sure everyone who interacts with the brand feels seen, heard, and understood.
"Every day we should wake up and make a decision on what type of day we're going to have. I wake up every day and I choose happiness. I choose joy. I choose love. I choose laughter. And that aligns with what I do here because I want to make the customer smile."
Stay tuned for more on these incredible women...
